These elements are shapes, dimensions, color scheme, postioning of images, text on the pages. Instead they should use Entropy principle. This will create a "tension" in the page and will make reader's mind to concentrate more on the page and thus will induce more intreset about the book. Yes, content should also be readable otherwise what the **** a good design will do. Its like creating more and more super ideas and plans and never executing any of those.
