Above Average: Well way above and a must read for every one!

“We aren’t what we do or what we achieve or what we acquire or about what we become, we are and we always will be what we want.”
–Amitabh Bagchi

If you have ever felt the desire to be some one in your life then this book will find an instant connect with you, because its all about growing up, fighting to be the best, well almost the best :-)

A lot of press has been given to this book some bouquets some brickbats and lots of Megabites of web space has been utilized some in praise and some in comparison and some in critical acclaim. Well You have to give it to Amitabha Bagchi that it was never trashed as a non readable book.

I recently came across two very interesting instances one is by very famous Rasmi Bansal at the http://youthcurry.blogspot.com/2007/07/above-average-book-review.html

and second one at Orkut at

http://www.orkut.com/CommMsgs.aspx?cmm=24702612

and I am part of the second discussion as well. For reader’s convinence i have imported the entire transcript here at Book World Central.

In both these instances FPS was compared and Above average was discussed. I would like to quote Rashmi through her Blog where in her final analysis she says

In the final analysis, FPS, is junk food for the mind. Tasty at the time but quickly gulped down and forgotten. Above Average is a lovingly cooked meal, although some portions are too bland/ undercooked. Yet, provides some food for thought while chewing on it.

Rating:
Above average but not outta-this-world

And I wish to raise this issue once again with all the readers that please go ahead and get your food for thought. In today’s scenario when marketing and PR has an edge on the book sales, where it matters if the book has been talked about on various channels or not please do give value to content and original writing.

I appreciate Chetan for writing such a well written book but yes thats the end of it please do not convert it into a literary fiction. Its plain simple fiction. and since CB moved first he will always have the first mover advantage, but this does not undermine other author’s works. CB should not be compared with Above Average because in terms of content and humour I think Above average takes the cake.
